📌 SaaS Business Idea - Turo but for 3d Printers

Not everyone has a 3d printer but they might need for a one time project and those who have it might want to earn from it and put it to work to earn them money...

Hi, I’m Leo,

Welcome to this latest issue of SoloCodeVenture.

Today we’ll focus on building a sort of Turo but specifically built for 3d printers.

What is Turo?

Turo is a US platform that allow users to rent cars and car owners to earn from renting their car (not sponsored 😅). The car owner put the availability of the car and the user books the car for the period they need it.

Suggestion:

Since this is a pretty “niche” idea, if you’re not into 3d printing I suggest you to learn some of the basics of this world before trying to build it since it would be necessary to understand how things work.

Before we start, if you haven’t already:

Overview 👀

What is it about?

This SaaS platform enables 3D printer owners to list their printers for rental. The service then allows startups and hobbyists to send a print file, order prints and receive packages with the finished products. The printer owner manages the job while earning revenue from each transaction. Creating a sort of print on demand but with privates as suppliers.

Problem & Solution 🔍️

Problem to solve

Startups and hobbyists often want to prototype or manufacture small objects but don’t have a 3d printer (I was one of them 😅) or they simply don’t need it that much to justify the expense of buying a new one. At the same time, many 3D printer owners do not maximize the capacity and potential income of their equipment.

Solution to build

What we’re building then to solve this issue is an online marketplace for 3D printing services making the meet between buyers and 3d printer owners easier than ever. Printer owners can list their devices, set availability, and pricing, while users upload their print files, choose printing options, and receive manufactured parts directly at their location. Beyond connecting users, the platform supports secure payment processing, rating and review systems, quality checks, and logistics management for the shipping process.
