What is it about?
The idea is to create a Chrome extension that is designed to integrate English language learning into everyday online reading to help users learn faster and better. It detects when the user is reading and English article or looking for an English word and then the magic starts: it provides tools such as instant definitions, synonyms, examples, audio transcriptions, comprehension and writing exercises all with the goal of boosting learning

Problem & Solution 🔍️
Problem to solve
Many non-native English speakers (including me) when they’re first approaching the language they struggle to find time and motivation for traditional language courses and existing tools and platforms like Duolingo usually last for a few weeks before motivation drops. What we all do though is read articles and make internet researches in English. Even if it’s not our mother tongue will all know there are more results in English than in other languages so we come up to compromises. The problem is there’s no way up to this day to link those readings with actually English learning which offers a big opportunity to build an innovative English learning solution.
Solution to build
What we propose then is to create a Chrome Extension that embeds into the natural act of browsing and then link the reading done “for pleasure” to active learning. The goal is to make learning more interactive, less intrusive and actually teach people how to use the language in situations they will need (simply because if they’re using the extension is because they found themselves in a situation where they needed English).
