Problem & Solution 🔍️

Problem to solve

People struggle when it comes with career changes or growth, they are unsure of which skills to develop, which companies to target and what salaries to expect. It’s often hard to take action due to these insecurities resulting in stuck situations. This lack of personalized guidance tailored to the specific person often creates confusion and more importantly, missed opportunities in career development.

Solution to build

A platform that analyzes user’s existing skills, market demand and salary trends to provide customized recommendations for career development. The idea is to understand the potential of the person and help him/her grow professionally by learning new skills/taking a new degree, joining a new company. The platform would automatically fetch for jobs available that would match the user and propose to join for a career improvement.

Target audience 🙋

  • Mid-career professionals looking for growth

  • Graduates aiming to enter competitive markets

  • Freelancers looking to upskill, have more income streams

Core features 💪

MVP (Must have)

  1. User skill assessment based on LinkedIn and manual input

  2. Analysis of current market trends and demand skills

  3. Salary expectations based on region and job role

  4. Target company recommendations

  5. User progress tracking

Optional features (Cool stuff you could add later)

  • Personalized skill development recommendations

  • Job application tracking

  • AI powered interview prep with simulated Q&A

  • Simulation of the future steps, skills, salaries with simple visualization of the process

How to make money 💸

Revenue model

The idea earns with subscriptions both with a free tier for limited access and basic insights teasing users the benefits of the premium version.
You could price this at €12/month stressing the fact that while it might seem expensive if used properly will help them raise their salary and earn so much more than what they do now.

Idea 💡: Try to estimate in how much time the average user would see results and offer memberships of that period. This would ensure for you higher incomes one time instead of monthly subscriptions and convince more people to subscribe.
Ex. If users manage to change their job in 7 months, offer a 8 months tier for 89€

Revenue streams:

  • Subscriptions

  • Affiliate marketing with online education platforms (ex. Udemy and Coursera)

  • Mentorship services as add-ons

How to get the idea known 📢

  1. Ai-generated career reports as lead magnets to show where their career might lead if they don’t take action

  2. “Career growth calculator” that generates income forecasts for free

  3. Social media ads (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook) targeting professionals

  4. SEO-optimized content on career growth and skill development

  5. Videos on career transition topics

Why this idea is cool (and why it’s not) 🧐

Cool aspects

I like the fact that this idea is strictly personalized and helps people earn more.

Usually people are more willing to pay for a service if it helps them achieve one of the following:

- Save time

- Save money

- Earn money

and we achieve the last one in this case

The SaaS model is easily scalable and the growing need for ups killing due to rapid technological changes might ensure a steady demand for personalized career guidance even after the membership time we discussed about before

Meh aspects

  • Some people might be concerned about privacy and secure handling of user information since they are supposed to share as good amount of personal infos

How could this idea miserably fail? 📉

  1. Revenue concentration

The business heavily relies on subscription revenue which might become a vulnerability if user growth stalls or if competitors offer similar service at lower prices. Also, there’s a high dependency on users upgrading from free to premium plans which can be a challenge

How to overcome the issue:

  • Diversify income streams and make the idea profitable even if the user doesn’t upgrade to the paid version

  • Make it a no brainer for the user to buy the paid version

  1. Market changes

The platform’s value heavily depends on accurate, up-to-date market and salary data. If the data becomes inaccurate, outdated or unreliable the platform looses all its value proposition.

How to overcome it:

  • Use APIs from sources like LinkedIn, Indeed, government databases to continuously pull fresh data on job trends, salary benchmarks, hiring rates and provide the data to an LLM that analyze everything easily

  • Focus at first on some niches to make ensure the quality of the data and then expand to other niches and jobs

  1. Technological vulnerabilities

The SaaS relies on Ai models for most of the analysis which is a great idea to make it quick and easy for users but if the engine becomes inaccurate or if the Ai is not well-maintained it could reduce the value perceived

Solutions:

  • Use high tier model with explainability possibilities - models like o1 from OpenAi allow to see the thought process before giving a result, while this might raise the costs, it can also reduces mistakes and make it easier for the user why they received that result and suggestion.

Make sure of… ✔️

  • Pull accurate and up-to-date salary and job market data

  • Ensure smooth user experience and clear value proposition

  • Set realistic goals for user acquisition and revenue growth during early stages

Discuss this idea with AI 🤖

I want to build a SaaS that could help people with career growth. It would analyze a user’s current skills (based on their LinkedIn profile and any input they add manually), look at market trends, and suggest specific steps for improvement. Whether it's learning a new skill, taking a degree, or even applying for jobs at companies that match their profile, it offers personalized recommendations. The cool part is it would also track salaries and job demand in real-time, so you can see exactly how making certain career moves could affect your earnings.
The platform would operate on a subscription model, but with a free tier that gives a taste of its features. It’s mainly targeted at mid-career professionals, recent graduates, or freelancers looking to upskill and boost income. There’s also potential for add-ons like mentorship services or affiliate marketing with education platforms like Udemy. What’s interesting is it could help people quickly land higher-paying jobs by providing tailored, actionable insights and even suggesting jobs to apply for based on their profile.
